07:24 PM EDT, 06/04/2026 (MT Newswires) -- CME Group ( CME ) Chief Executive Terry Duffy said he has grave concerns about perpetual futures contracts, warning the leveraged instruments could expose retail traders to excessive risk they may not fully understand, Bloomberg reported, citing Piper Sandler Global Exchange & Fintech Conference.
Duffy's comments came days after the Commodity Futures Trading Commission approved the first cryptocurrency-linked perps, a decision he said he disagreed with and flagged directly to CFTC Chair Michael Selig, the report said.
Perpetual futures allow traders to take leveraged positions on asset prices without the expiration dates that govern traditional futures contracts, the report added.
