09:09 AM EDT, 09/11/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Coinbase Global ( COIN ) , Riot Platforms ( RIOT ) , and cryptocurrency-related stocks were down premarket Wednesday following former President Donald Trump's performance in Tuesday's debate with Democratic contender Vice President Kamala Harris.

Trump, who is positioned as a supporter of cryptocurrencies, appeared largely on the defensive during the debate as Harris hammered him on his character and stances. Following the debate, pop star Taylor Swift endorsed Harris to her 283 million followers on Instagram.

Shares of Coinbase, Riot Platforms ( RIOT ), Marathon Digital (MARA), MicroStrategy ( MSTR ) and Hut 8 ( HUT ) were down more than 2% in the pre-bell session.
