BOGOTA, Aug 14 (Reuters) - Colombia's Grupo Argos
reported a 40% drop in its second quarter net income,
compared to the same period last year, falling to 189 billion
Colombian pesos ($47 million), the conglomerate said on
Wednesday.
In a presentation, Argos, with units in the energy, cement
and airport operation sectors, chalked up the quarterly hit to
its income as mainly driven by a 90% fall in proceeds from
concessions and nearly a quarter less income from its cement
business.
The company's revenues in the April-to-June period slipped
17% to 3.7 trillion pesos.
The drop in revenue was led by an 88% slide from what
the company described as reclassifications and other business
units, according to the presentation.
Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and
amortization (EBITDA) decreased by 13% year-on-year to 993
billion pesos.
