10:53 AM EDT, 08/02/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Commercial Metals ( CMC ) said Friday that Barbara Smith will retire as executive chairman of the board, effective Aug. 31.

Robert Wetherbee, an independent director since March 2023, has been named board chair, effective Sept. 1.

The board also decreased the number of total number of seats to nine directors from 10.
