DBRS Puts Canadian Western Bank Under Review With Positive Implications; National Bank of Canada Ratings Confirmed

09:53 AM EDT, 06/13/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Morningstar DBRS on Wednesday placed the credit ratings of Canadian Western Bank ( CWESF ) , including the bank's long-term issuer rating of A (low), under review with positive implications.

This credit rating action comes after the National Bank of Canada ( NTIOF ) agreed to buy Canadian Western Bank ( CWESF ).

The under review with positive implications designation reflects the rating agency's view that Canadian Western Bank's ( CWESF ) credit ratings will benefit from the acquisition by the National Bank of Canada ( NTIOF ).

Additionally, DBRS confirmed its credit ratings on National Bank of Canada ( NTIOF ) and its related entities, including the bank's long-term issuer rating at "AA" and short-term issuer rating at "R-1 (high)." The trend on all the credit ratings is stable.
