Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian Expects Thursday to Be 'Normal Day' as Cancellations Subside
Jul 24, 2024 6:56 AM

09:30 AM EDT, 07/24/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Delta Air Lines' ( DAL ) chief executive officer, Ed Bastian, said Wednesday that the airline expects Thursday to be a "normal day" after it was forced to cancel thousands of flights in the wake of a global tech outage last week.

"[T]he worst impacts of the CrowdStrike-caused outage are clearly behind us," Bastian said in a statement posted on the airline's website.

"Delays and cancellations were down 50% Tuesday compared to Monday, and we anticipate cancellations Wednesday to be minimal," Bastian said. "Thursday is expected to be a normal day, with the airline fully recovered and operating at a traditional level of reliability."

Delta shares were down less than 1% in recent Wednesday premarket activity.
