01:28 PM EDT, 04/08/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Duke Energy's ( DUK ) Duke Energy Florida unit said Monday it has filed a request with the Florida Public Service Commission to reduce its rates in anticipation of lower natural-gas prices.

Under the proposal, the residential rate on the monthly usage of 1,000 kilowatt hours will be reduced by $5.90, or nearly 4%. Meanwhile, commercial and industrial customers are expected to see their bills fall between 3.5% and 7%, the company said.
