European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Nudge Lower in Wednesday Trading

11:21 AM EDT, 03/13/2024 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were trending slightly lower on Wednesday morning, declining 0.12% to 1,372.15 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by internet browser company Opera (OPRA) and biopharmaceutical company Calliditas Therapeutics ( CALT ) , which rose 5% and 2.6%, respectively. They were followed by oil and gas company TotalEnergies (TTE) and biopharmaceutical firm Genfit ( GNFT ) , which were up 2% and 1.4%, respectively.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by 3D printer company voxeljet (VJET) and biotech firm Biophytis ( BPTS ) , which fell 50% and 4.1%, respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical firm argenx (ARGX) and pharmaceutical company Ascendis Pharma ( ASND ) , which were down 2.5% and 2.1%, respectively.

From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by biopharmaceutical firm NuCana ( NCNA ) and cruise line operator Carnival (CUK), which rose 71% and 3.2%, respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical companies Adaptimmune Therapeutics ( ADAP ) and Verona Pharma ( VRNA ) , which increased 3% and 1.5%, respectively.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by pharmaceutical firm Silence Therapeutics ( SLN ) and biopharmaceutical firm TC Biopharm ( TCBP ) , which dropped 7.6% and 3.3%, respectively. They were followed by telecommunications operator Vodafone Group ( VOD ) and biotech firm Trinity Biotech ( TRIB ) , which were down 3.1% and 2.6%, respectively.
