European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Start Week Slightly Lower in Monday Trading

11:15 AM EDT, 03/18/2024 (MT Newswires) -- European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts opened the week modestly lower Monday morning, declining 0.23% to 1,353.40 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by 3D printer company voxeljet (VJET) and internet browser company Opera (OPRA), which climbed 8.8% and 3.8%, respectively. They were followed by 3D printer company Materialise (MTLS) and semiconductor company Sequans Communications ( SQNS ) , which rose 2.8% and 2.2%, respectively.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by biotech firm Biophytis ( BPTS ) and biopharmaceutical company Calliditas Therapeutics ( CALT ) , which fell 13% and 5.9% respectively. They were followed by telecommunications companies Ericsson (ERIC) and Nokia ( NOK ) , which were down 5% and 4.1% respectively.

From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by cruise line operator Carnival (CUK) and pharmaceutical company Silence Therapeutics ( SLN ) , which rose 2.3% and 2.2% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company Akari Therapeutics ( AKTX ) and tobacco company British American Tobacco ( BTI ) , which increased 2% and 1.8% respectively.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical companies TC Biopharm ( TCBP ) and NuCana ( NCNA ) , which dropped 11% and 7.1% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company Amarin ( AMRN ) and insurance firm Prudential (PUK), which were down 2.6% and 1.9% respectively.
