11:07 AM EDT, 07/03/2025 (MT Newswires) -- A joint venture between Exxon Mobil ( XOM ) and QatarEnergy is seeking permission from the US Department of Energy to re-export liquefied natural gas for a two-year period starting Oct. 1.
The application is for LNG previously imported into the US up to an amount that is equivalent to 50 billion cubic feet of natural gas, according to a Wednesday document posted on the department's website.
Golden Pass LNG is seeking authorization to export LNG from its terminal that is under construction in Sabine Pass, Texas, according to the document.
Golden Pass LNG said in its application filed June 26 that for the start up of new export facilities, it's common to import LNG to cool down liquefaction equipment.
Exxon shares were up 0.9% in recent trading.
