Federal Judge Rejects Boeing's Plea Deal With US Over 2 Fatal Crashes
Dec 5, 2024 10:17 AM

12:57 PM EST, 12/05/2024 (MT Newswires) -- US District Judge Reed O'Connor on Thursday rejected a plea agreement reached by Boeing ( BA ) and the US pertaining to two airplane crashes that resulted in 346 deaths.

Numerous families of the victims opposed the plea agreement's compliance-monitor provisions, O'Connor said.

"They argue, in essence, that the Government has monitored Boeing ( BA ) since the case was filed and yet failed to ensure Boeing's ( BA ) compliance," he said.

The US District Court for the Northern District of Texas judge also ruled that the compliance-monitor provisions are against the public interest and that they "erroneously marginalize the Court."

Boeing ( BA ) did not immediately reply to a request for comment from MT Newswires.

BA shares were off 0.1% in recent trading.
