08:11 AM EST, 02/25/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Fortuna Mining ( FSM ) said Tuesday that a fatal accident took place Monday at its Seguela Mine in Ivory Coast.

The Canadian gold mining company said a contractor was killed at the mine following an explosion that took place during the refilling of a fire extinguisher.

Authorities have been notified and an investigation is underway, the company said.

Fortuna shares were down more than 1% in recent premarket activity.
