GitLab Shares Climb On Google Cloud Vertex AI Collaboration
Apr 15, 2026 7:11 AM

GitLab Inc. ( GTLB ) shares are trading higher Wednesday after the company announced it partnered with Google Cloud to enable customers to access GitLab Duo Agent Platform using Vertex AI models.

GitLab ( GTLB ) stock is showing upward momentum. What’s the outlook for GTLB shares?

Expanded Google Cloud Collaboration

GitLab ( GTLB ) said the expanded collaboration allows customers to power its Duo Agent Platform with Vertex AI models on Google Cloud, including Gemini models, while counting usage toward existing Google Cloud commitments.

The companies said the integration enables AI agents within GitLab ( GTLB ) to call Vertex AI models natively, combining model performance with GitLab's ( GTLB ) built-in governance and compliance controls.

Agentic DevSecOps Capabilities

GitLab ( GTLB ) said its platform serves as a system of record for issues, code, merge requests, pipelines and security findings, allowing AI agents to generate code suggestions using contextual data from across the development lifecycle.

The company added that all agent actions follow existing access controls, approval rules and audit logging, ensuring governance remains in place as AI agents take on more tasks.

Flexible AI Infrastructure

The collaboration allows organizations to run GitLab's ( GTLB ) AI Gateway on Google Cloud without provisioning separate AI infrastructure. Customers can also choose from a range of foundation models through Vertex AI Model Garden based on performance, cost or regulatory requirements.

GitLab ( GTLB ) said its Bring Your Own Model option further extends flexibility by allowing teams to connect approved models and gateways within their existing environments.
