March 8 (Reuters) - Goldman Sachs Group Inc ( GS ) is

exiting transaction banking in Japan, Bloomberg News reported on

Friday.

"We are closing Goldman Sachs Bank USA Tokyo Branch whose

sole function was to support transaction banking in this

market." a Goldman Sachs ( GS ) spokesperson told Bloomberg in an

emailed statement.
