09:14 AM EST, 02/10/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google ( GOOG ) and Apple ( AAPL ) have agreed to take steps to improve the transparency and fairness of their app stores, the UK Competition and Markets Authority said Tuesday.
The CMA said the commitments are intended to ensure that reviews and rankings of apps to be distributed in Google ( GOOG ) and Apple ( AAPL ) app stores are made "in a fair, objective and transparent way and do not discriminate against apps which compete with their own."
Developers will also be able to more easily request interoperable access to features and functionality within Apple's ( AAPL ) mobile operating systems, the regulator said.
Google ( GOOG ) said in a statement that while it believes the current practices in its Play store are fair, it will collaborate with the CMA to resolve its concerns.
Apple ( AAPL ) did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
