11:09 AM EDT, 06/03/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google ( GOOG ) unit is ending its partnership with PayPal ( PYPL ) and will remove the digital payments platform from Google Wallet late next week, according to a posting on a Google ( GOOG ) support website.
Users in the US have been unable to link their PayPal ( PYPL ) accounts to Google Wallet since April 11 and the company plans to delete those remaining accounts on June 13, after which PayPal ( PYPL ) users will no longer be be able make or receive payments through Google Wallet, the company said.
Google ( GOOG ) said users will need to have at least one non-PayPal ( PYPL ) payment card linked to their Google Wallet accounts and is recommending that users also update their payment methods for any recurring payments or subscriptions to avoid a disruption of service.
Google Wallet is making some exceptions and will continue to accept PayPal ( PYPL )-branded debit cards after next week, it said. PayPal ( PYPL ) users in Germany also will be able to continue integrating their accounts to Google Wallet, the company said.
Alphabet shares were about 1% lower in recent trading, while PayPal ( PYPL ) was little changed.
