Hudbay Minerals Restarts Snow Lake Site; Full Production Expected by Early September
Aug 27, 2025 1:41 PM

04:21 PM EDT, 08/27/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Hudbay Minerals ( HBM ) said Wednesday afternoon it has resumed operations at its Snow Lake site after the Manitoba Wildfire Service and the Town of Snow Lake lifted the mandatory evacuation order on Aug. 22.

There was no structural damage to surface infrastructure or facilities, the company said, adding that since returning, the team has completed a safety review of the shaft and restarted the underground electrical systems.

Milling at the New Britannia mill resumed on Tuesday, and the full workforce at the Lalor mine returned on Wednesday. The Snow Lake operation is expected to be fully back to normal by early September, Hudbay said.

The company added that despite the wildfire-related disruption, it still expects to meet its 2025 production targets in Manitoba.

Hudbay shares closed down $0.24 to $16.00 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
