11:32 AM EDT, 09/09/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Hydro One ( HRNNF ) said Tuesday it began construction on the St. Clair transmission line to serve southwest Ontario.
The company said the $471.9 million project is expected to support economic and community development in the region.
Hydro One ( HRNNF ) said the new line will help meet growing electricity demand across the province, including support for electric vehicle manufacturing and farming operations in the southwest.
The St. Clair Transmission Line is part of a network of projects including the Chatham to Lakeshore line that was energized in late-2024 and Longwood to Lakeshore transmission lines, being developed in collaboration with five First Nation partners in the region. First Nation partners have been offered a 50 per cent equity stake in the transmission line component of the project, through its 50-50 First Nation Equity Partnership Model.
Shares of the company were last seen down 0.1% at $49.44 on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
