Ikea in Mumbai: Offline stores will aid online sales, says Manager Alan Buckle
Dec 21, 2020 9:04 AM

Ikea finally opened its doors in Mumbai over the weekend to much fanfare. The new store is bigger than ten football fields put together, approximately 5,00,000 square feet.

Store Manager Alan Buckle told CNBC-TV18 that the store could accommodate 20,000 visitors on normal days, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it has been cut to 10 percent.

"People have been shopping online with us because we did not have a store yet. From our experience in other markets, once we open the store, that increases the online business because people come into the store, they get inspired and go back to the website and place orders," he said.
