Infosys reviews Huawei contracts to ensure compliance with US rules, says report
Jun 4, 2019 1:27 AM

In a bid to ensure complying with the US' restriction on Huawei, tech giant Infosys has started to review its contracts with the Chinese telecom equipment maker, reported The Economic Times quoting sources.

The move, which is likely to be followed by other IT firms, is to ensure that the firm is not affected by US restrictions on Chinese brand, the daily said.

Infosys has a strategic alliance with Huawei and the company has brought in consultants to ensure it does not fall foul of US rules, the report said.

“This is not an easy thing to determine, and it does not mean they have to immediately stop working, but they have to determine where licences may be needed,” a source was quoted as saying in the report.

The move comes after the US government had placed Huawei and its affiliates on a blacklist, a move that essentially banned the Chinese telecom equipment company from purchasing parts and components from American firms without the US government approval.
