05:55 PM EDT, 04/03/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Intuitive Machines ( LUNR ) said late Wednesday the National Aeronautics and Space Administration awarded the company $30 million as a prime contractor to complete a lunar terrain vehicle, or LTV, services feasibility assessment.
The company's global team will be responsible for creating a feasibility roadmap to develop and deploy an LTV on the moon using Intuitive Machines' ( LUNR ) Nova-D lunar lander.
The company said the first-phase award marks its foray into human spaceflight operations within NASA's $4.6 billion LTV services project.
Intuitive Machines ( LUNR ) said its Moon Reusable Autonomous Crewed Exploration Rover global team partners include Boeing ( BA ) and Northrop Grumman ( NOC ) .
Intuitive Machines' ( LUNR ) shares were up 5% in after-hours activity.
