Jio unveils new plans for Jiophone users; will it impact Bharti Airtel?
Mar 1, 2021 6:57 AM

Bharti Airtel share price slips as 4G spectrum auctions kick-off today and hopes of tariff revision dissipate with Jio introducing new plans for Jiophone users.

One of the big reasons cited for today’s fall in Bharti Airtel is the launch of new plans by Reliance Jio for Jio feature phones.

Jio has launched these plans with the purpose to upgrade the existing 2G subscribers to 4G feature phones. Bharti Airtel's profitability comes from the premium 4G postpaid subscribers. However, it is unlikely that Jio’s new plans are going to impact Bharti Airtel materially.

CNBC-TV18’s Reema Tendulkar has more details.

Disclosure

: RIL, the promoter of Reliance Jio, also controls Network18, the parent company of CNBCTV18.com.
