08:44 AM EST, 11/13/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Joby Aviation ( JOBY ) said Thursday it completed the first flight of its turbine-electric autonomous vertical takeoff and landing aircraft at its Marina, California, facility.

The demonstrator combines a hybrid turbine powertrain and Joby's SuperPilot autonomous system with its existing electric air taxi platform to extend range and payload capacity, the company said.

The flight took place just three months after Joby unveiled the hybrid concept in partnership with L3Harris Technologies (LHX), which will equip the aircraft for defense use, Joby Aviation ( JOBY ) said.

The company said it will continue ground and flight testing to prepare for operational demonstrations for government customers in 2026.
