Johnson & Johnson Unit Can Retain Insolvency Case in Texas
Oct 11, 2024 4:14 AM

06:51 AM EDT, 10/11/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Johnson & Johnson's ( JNJ ) Red River Talc unit can retain its insolvency case in Texas, giving the subsidiary another opportunity to settle lawsuits over talc products, media outlets reported Friday, citing a ruling from US Bankruptcy Judge Christopher Lopez.

According to the reports, Lopez's ruling shot down claims by the Office of the US Trustee and some lawyers of the plaintiffs that the case should be filed in New Jersey, where Johnson & Johnson ( JNJ ) is headquartered.

The company's talc unit is facing thousands of lawsuits from plaintiffs who alleged that its products were contaminated with asbestos and caused cancers, the media outlets said.

Johnson & Johnson ( JNJ ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswire's request for comment.
