Analysts polled by Capital IQ expected $0.81.
Revenue for the quarter ended Sept. 29 was $4.17 billion, up from $3.48 billion a year ago.
Analysts surveyed by Capital IQ expected $4.06 billion.
For the December quarter, Lam expects non-GAAP earnings of $0.87 per share, plus minus $0.10, on revenue of $4.30 billion, plus minus $300 million.
Analysts surveyed by Capital IQ expect $0.85 on revenue of $4.25 billion.
Shares of the company rose about 5% in after-hours activity.
