The last weekend has been the worst for Bollywood — the Hindi film industry — worse than the Monday collections of the big Bollywood movies.

Four films were released last Friday — Helicopter Eela, Jalebi, Tumbaad and FryDay. While there were high expectations for the Kajol starrer Helicopter Eela, but the audience felt otherwise.

The Kajol starrer earned Rs 75 lakh on the day of its release, last Friday and made a collection of Rs 1.10 crore and Rs 1.30 crore that weekend, with a total of Rs 3.15 crore in the opening weekend.

Box Office India, a film website that keeps track of how the films fared pan-India, Jalebi that features Rhea Chakraborty and Varun Mitra in the lead roles, collected approximately Rs 1.65 crore in first three days of its release.

Tumbbad, a thriller film directed by Anand Gandhi, was critically approved, but failed to do well in the numbers. The film managed to collect around Rs 2.75 crore in the opening weekend.

FryDay, a slapstick comedy featuring Govinda in the lead, collected merely Rs 1.10 crore in the opening weekend.

The total collection of all the four films together over the weekend was just Rs 8.65 crore.

Hopefully, the two films — Badhaai Ho and Namaste England — lined up for the Dusshera weekend release, will not be as disappointing as the previous week's releases.
