07:30 AM EDT, 09/24/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Lithium Americas ( LAC ) said Wednesday that it is in discussions with the US Department of Energy and General Motors ( GM ) over its Thacker Pass lithium joint venture project, including financing for the project.

The company said the topics of the discussions include conditions to draw on the previously announced $2.26 billion Department of Energy loan and associated loan specifics, as well as requests for further conditions and associated transaction documents.

"The company continues to work with the DOE and GM regarding proposals for a mutually agreeable resolution," Lithium Americas ( LAC ) said.

Shares of the company were up 69% in recent premarket activity Wednesday.
