Analysts polled by FactSet expected $3.44.

Sales for the quarter ended June 30 were $9.18 billion, compared with $7.66 billion a year earlier.

Analysts expected $9.21 billion.

LyondellBasell Industries ( LYB ) shares were up more than 2% premarket Friday.
