Market Chatter: Albemarle Pushes Back Reopen Date For North Carolina Lithium Mine
May 3, 2024 8:31 AM

11:08 AM EDT, 05/03/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Albemarle (ALB) is pushing back the date it plans to reopen a lithium mine in North Carolina due to a collapse in lithium prices that has weighed on the company, Albemarle President of Energy Storage Eric Norris reportedly told CNBC Friday.

The company originally hoped to reopen the mine by as early as late 2026, according to the CNBC report.

"It's going to be a later date," Norris was quoted as saying. "It slowed down a bit given the concerns we have, but we are still progressing it forward."
