Market Chatter: Amazon Testing Speedy Delivery Using Kia Soul Subcompact
Aug 8, 2024 1:00 PM

03:30 PM EDT, 08/08/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Amazon.com ( AMZN ) is testing an initiative to deliver same-day packages faster by using a convoy of Kia Soul subcompact cars, Bloomberg reported Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter and job postings.

The Kia drivers work four- or five-hour shifts and deliver around 50 items under Amazon's ( AMZN ) Delivery Service Partner initiative that outsources hiring, the report said.

The initiative may reduce reliance on the Amazon Flex gig economy program, which pays drivers to deliver packages using their vehicles, the report said.

Amazon ( AMZN ) didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
