Market Chatter: Amazon to Add Premium Tier of Alexa Devices
Mar 17, 2025 5:44 AM

08:25 AM EDT, 03/17/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Amazon.com ( AMZN ) plans to expand its Alexa device line with a premium tier in a bid to offer consumers more choices, Bloomberg reported Monday, citing the company's head for devices and services Panos Panay.

Panay told the news outlet that the voice assistant's new artificial intelligence operating system, Alexa+, will be at the core of plans to revamp the company's hardware. With chip upgrades in the horizon, the devices will eventually be able to handle more AI crunching, improving response time and privacy, he said.

The executive's future plans could also include augmented reality glasses and new wrist-worn devices, and he will also evaluate the company's home robot Astro and consider a new smartphone, according to the report.

"I want perfection in every single product that we ship - period," Panay told Bloomberg.

Amazon ( AMZN ) did not immediately reply to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
