Market Chatter: American Airlines Drops Legal Challenge Over O'Hare Airport Gate Reassignment
Jul 17, 2025 7:19 AM

09:56 AM EDT, 07/17/2025 (MT Newswires) -- American Airlines ( AAL ) has dropped its legal challenge against the city of Chicago over the reassignment of a gate space at O'Hare International Airport, Bloomberg reported Thursday, citing a court filing.

The airline sued Chicago in May over the gate decisions that are part of an alleged long-term plan by competitor United Airlines (UAL) to force it out of the airport, according to the report.

American Airlines ( AAL ) did not explain its decision to drop the legal challenge in the court filing, although there is a stipulation that it can sue again in the future, Bloomberg reported.

The airline did not immediately reply to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
