Market Chatter: Apple Likely to Avoid EU Fine Over Browser Options
Mar 25, 2025 5:55 AM

08:43 AM EDT, 03/25/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Apple ( AAPL ) is likely to avoid a possible fine as the company has made changes to the iPhone's browser design to comply with the Digital Markets Act and the European Commission is poised to conclude its investigation early next week, Reuters reported Tuesday, citing people with direct knowledge of the matter.

The report said the Commission launched the investigation in March last year, concerned that Apple's ( AAPL ) browser screen design might limit users from switching to rival browsers or search engines.

While the Commission will end its investigation into the iPhone's browser options, it will impose a fine on Apple ( AAPL ) at the same time over alleged restrictions that prevent developers from informing users about offers outside the App Store, according to the report.

Apple ( AAPL ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
