08:44 AM EDT, 08/28/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Apple ( AAPL ) believes that Britain's plans to increase competition in the mobile operating system market may harm users and developers, and could force the US giant to share its technology with foreign competitors for free, Reuters reported Thursday, citing an Apple ( AAPL ) spokesperson.
"We're concerned these EU-style rules the UK is advancing are bad for users and bad for developers," the report quoted the spokesperson as saying.
Last month, Britain's Competition and Markets Authority, told Apple ( AAPL ) and Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google to use fairer practices when distributing apps on their mobile platforms, outlining potential interventions as it plans to designate the US tech companies with strategic market status due to their duopoly, the report said.
Apple ( AAPL ) said such a designation would undermine privacy and security protections while also limiting industry innovation, Reuters reported.
Apple ( AAPL ) did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
