07:11 AM EDT, 10/10/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Arm Holdings ( ARM ) parent SoftBank Group is in discussions to borrow $5 billion from global banks, Bloomberg News reported Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.

The Japanese investment firm is close to entering into an agreement with certain lenders for a margin loan secured by Arm shares, according to the report.

The company will use the proceeds to fund additional investment in OpenAI, the parent of generative artificial intelligence chatbot ChatGPT, this year, the unnamed sources told the news outlet.

Arm, SoftBank, and OpenAI didn't immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
