Market Chatter: BHP Gets Temporary Relaxation on Restrictions by China Mineral Resources
Mar 13, 2026 10:49 AM

01:21 PM EDT, 03/13/2026 (MT Newswires) -- China Mineral Resources is temporarily relaxing curbs on an iron ore grade from BHP (BHP) for some steelmakers, Bloomberg News reported Friday, citing sources with knowledge of the matter.

The state-backed enterprise is permitting certain steelmakers to collect shipments of Jimblebar iron ore that have accumulated at ports since a ban was implemented last year, the news outlet reported.

The suspension of restrictions does not apply to traders, the people told the media outlet.

BHP did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for a comment.
