Market Chatter: BP to Keep Crude Unit at German Refinery Operational
Jul 8, 2025 7:39 AM

10:27 AM EDT, 07/08/2025 (MT Newswires) -- BP (BP) will keep a crude processing unit at its Gelsenkirchen refinery in Germany operational "for the time being," given market demand and its contribution to profitability, Bloomberg reported Tuesday.

A vacuum distillation unit and a visbreaker at the Gelsenkirchen refinery are still set to be shut down, according to the report, citing an email from the company.

The crude unit was among the facilities that were planned to be closed in 2025 due to high costs and a slump in fuel demand, the report said.

BP didn't immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
