07:36 AM EDT, 10/06/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Carlyle Group ( CG ) is close to acquiring BASF's coatings business in a roughly 7 billion-euro ($8.17 billion) deal, the Financial Times reported Monday, citing sources familiar with the plan.

Carlyle came ahead of other private capital groups in an auction for the business and is now in exclusive discussions with BASF, the unnamed sources told the publication.

Carlyle and BASF didn't immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
