08:24 AM EDT, 08/14/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Costco Wholesale ( COST ) has chosen not to sell the abortion pill mifepristone at its over 500 pharmacy locations as it has not seen any consumer demand for the drug, Bloomberg reported Thursday, citing a statement from the company.
The decision was hailed by a conservative group of religious activists, who had urged the company to refrain from selling the drug, according to the report.
The religious group is now targeting CVS Health ( CVS ) and Walgreens Boots Alliance ( WBA ) , the report said.
CVS told Bloomberg in a statement that it distributes mifepristone in states where it is legal, while Walgreens says in its website that the US Supreme Court's ruling on mifepristone access allows it to dispense the drug under guidelines from the Food and Drug Administration, the report said.
Costco did not immediately reply to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
