Market Chatter: Court Upholds $183.7 Million Medicaid Fraud Judgment Against Eli Lilly
Sep 12, 2025 4:13 AM

07:00 AM EDT, 09/12/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Eli Lilly ( LLY ) lost its appeal of a $183.7 million judgment in a whistleblower lawsuit accusing the company of defrauding Medicaid, Reuters reported on Thursday.

The 7th US Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago upheld a jury finding that Eli Lilly ( LLY ) knowingly concealed retroactive drug price increases and failed to rebate Medicaid on the higher prices, the report said.

The court said jurors heard "ample evidence" that Eli Lilly ( LLY ) chose to obfuscate rather than conduct a reasonable inquiry, according to the report.

Whistleblower Ronald Streck, a lawyer and pharmacist, had argued that the judgment should have been higher, but the appeals court panel rejected his claim.

Eli Lilly ( LLY ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
