Market Chatter: DOJ Investigates Live Nation, AEG Over Alleged Pandemic Refund Policies
May 26, 2025 9:22 AM

06:29 AM EDT, 05/16/2025 (MT Newswires) -- The US Department of Justice is examining through a criminal antitrust investigation whether Live Nation Entertainment ( LYV ) and AEG colluded on concert refund practices during the early days of the Covid-19 pandemic, Bloomberg News reported Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter.

Prosecutors are reportedly reviewing whether the firms coordinated with artists and each other to reduce financial losses after widespread cancellations in 2020.

Live Nation and AEG were part of an industry-wide response effort publicly disclosed at the time, but DOJ scrutiny intensified under the Trump administration, Bloomberg reported.

Prosecutors have considered potential charges, including against Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino, though no allegations have been formally made, the news outlet quoted the sources as saying.

Live Nation, AEG, and the US Justice Department did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
