01:25 PM EDT, 03/14/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Boeing ( BA ) could face suspension of the indirect approval of its aircraft production in Europe if needed, Reuters reported Thursday, citing European Union Aviation Safety Agency's Acting Executive Director Luc Tytgat.
"If need be, yes," Tytgat said when asked if EASA would be prepared to stop recognizing US approvals, according to the report.
Tytgat however did not see any immediate threat to Boeing's ( BA ) production certification, the report said.
"We don't see why (it) cannot be maintained today. It is more (about) the oversight and monitoring conditions that are in place."
The US Federal Aviation Administration and EASA recognize each other's safety approvals, with mechanisms in place to suspend recognition, according to the report.
A Boeing ( BA ) spokesperson declined MT Newswires' request for comment.
