Jun 30, 2025 4:06 AM

06:34 AM EDT, 06/30/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Ford Motor ( F ) temporarily idled multiple US factories over the past three weeks due to a shortage of magnets containing rare earth minerals amid Washington's trade tensions with China, Bloomberg News reported, citing Ford Chief Executive Jim Farley.

"We cannot get any high powered magnets without China," Farley reportedly said. "We shut down plants for the last three weeks because we cannot get high powered magnets. We can't make that stuff."

Ford did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
