12:22 PM EDT, 09/09/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Honda Motor ( HMC ) will cut jobs at its joint venture with Dongfeng Motor Group in China months after the staff reduction at its joint venture with GAC Group, Nikkei reported Monday.

The number of affected employees at Dongfeng Honda Automobile has not been announced, according to the report. Dongfeng Honda sought volunteers for early retirement in late August among production workers at three facilities that manufacture gasoline-powered vehicles, the report said.

In May, about 1,700 people or 14% of the GAC Honda Automobile workforce agreed to take early retirement, Nikkei reported.

Honda did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
