08:33 AM EDT, 06/18/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Huawei Technologies is mulling taking a commission on in-app purchases on its Harmony mobile operating system, which it has kept free of fees until now, Bloomberg reported Tuesday.
For games in particular, Huawei and developers are discussing a fee of about 20%, the report said, citing unnamed sources.
The commission that Huawei is looking into is lower than the usual 30% out taken by Apple ( AAPL ) and Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) for payments made through their mobile stores for games, apps, movies and other things, the report said.
Huawei did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
