07:32 AM EDT, 10/03/2025 (MT Newswires) -- Indian government ministers are stepping up promotion of "Made in India" alternatives to apps from Microsoft ( MSFT ) , Alphabet's Google ( GOOG ) , and Meta Platforms ( META ) amid trade tensions with the US, Reuters reported Friday.
India's Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted Zoho's presentation tools as a substitute for Microsoft's ( MSFT ) PowerPoint and MapmyIndia as an alternative to Google Maps during a media briefing this week, the report said.
Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also promoted Zoho's Arattai messaging app, which aims to rival Meta's WhatsApp, according to the report.
Microsoft ( MSFT ), Alphabet's Google ( GOOG ) and Meta Platforms ( META ) did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
