07:29 AM EDT, 06/24/2024 (MT Newswires) -- A Japan Airlines Embraer (ERJ) 170 plane bound for Osaka from the northern city of Aomori returned to the airport Saturday after its controls signaled an engine fire, news outlets reported, citing the airline.
All 47 passengers and crew aboard Flight JL2154 were unharmed, the reports said. It aborted the flight and returned home after the pilots received a signal that the jet's left engine had caught fire, Bloomberg reported.
"We are confirming whether the engine actually caught fire," Bloomberg cited a Japan Airlines spokesperson as saying in a text message.
Embraer ( ERJ ) and Japan Airlines did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
