10:56 AM EDT, 07/31/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Jefferies (JEF) is mulling whether to add a brokerage to its presence in Brazil to back distribution of equity and debt offerings, Bloomberg reported Wednesday, quoting a company official.
Jefferies, which opened its maiden office in the country last year, is "actively exploring the possibility" of adding a brokerage to its operations, Alejandro Guevara, Jefferies' senior country officer for Brazil, told Bloomberg in an interview.
"Our clients asked us to open an office in Brazil, and we are very happy with the presence we built here since April last year," Guevara told Bloomberg.
Jefferies may add one more managing director to its investment banking team in Brazil, which now has 10 people, the report said, adding it's also mulling a local debt capital-markets team.
