Market Chatter: Long-Term Stock Exchange to Petition SEC to Eliminate Quarterly Earnings Report Requirement
Sep 9, 2025 3:36 AM

06:03 AM EDT, 09/09/2025 (MT Newswires) -- The Long-Term Stock Exchange intends to petition the US Securities and Exchange Commission to remove the quarterly earnings report mandate and allow companies to report results biannually, The Wall Street Journal reported Monday, citing LTSE Chief Executive Bill Harts.

The move would save companies millions and let executives focus on long-term objectives instead of meeting quarterly targets or preparing for earnings calls too frequently, according to the report.

LTSE representatives recently met with SEC officials to discuss their proposal and left the meeting encouraged, the publication reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

The LTSE's proposal would apply to all US public companies, not just those listed on its exchange, according to the report.

The LTSE and the SEC didn't immediately respond to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
