09:14 AM EDT, 04/09/2024 (MT Newswires) -- Malaysian entrepreneur Vincent Tan is mulling the acquisition of Starbucks ( SBUX ) Malaysia owner Berjaya Food Berhad, Bloomberg reported Tuesday, citing sources with knowledge of the details.

Berjaya Food Berhad owns more than 370 Starbucks ( SBUX ) stores and 69 Kenny Rogers Roasters outlets in Malaysia, according to the company's website.

Tan, who is reportedly considering taking the Malaysia-listed company private, is discussing funding possibilities with financial institutions, according to the report.

Deliberations are in the preliminary stages and Tan may decide against taking the company private, the sources reportedly told Bloomberg.

Tan could not be reached for comment, while Berjaya Food did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
